happy
We chose December 21st, Winter Solstice. The longest night of the year. It was cold and dark outside and the wind was howling. A perfect contrast to the warmth in our hearts. As we sat there with the
rings, I asked Kiley to pick a song. She closed her eyes and went inside and chose. What she played I'd never heard before. "The Air That I Breathe" by the Hollies. Neither of us knew at the time but it was a big
hit in 1974, the year I was born. I was so nervous as I placed the ring on her finger, then she placed mine. We embraced. Later as she lay sleeping, I watched her face by the light of a single candle. I have never seen her
face so peaceful and happy. Just before succumbing to sleep myself, I blew out the candle. The room darkened, but I could still see her smile, in my minds eye. I love you Kiley, always and forever.
